Wallace Walton

      Wallace Walton, 75, of Thief River Falls, MN, died on Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND. 

 

      Wallace Carl Walton was born June 19, 1940 to parents Waino & Mary (Severts) Walton in Thief River Falls, MN.  He was baptized and raised in the Lutheran Faith.  He graduated from Middle River High School, Class of 1958. In March of 1959, he joined the US Army and served in Germany.  After discharge, he drove truck for Land ‘O Lakes.

 

      He married Jovenia Aamodt on April 20, 1968 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN.  In 1972 he co-owned and operated Walton’s, Inc.  They moved to Princeton, MN in 1977 and returned to Middle River in 1987 where he managed the Middle River Co-op Oil Assn.  He was also active with the Middle River Ambulance Service.

 

      He was an avid hunter, fisherman & sports fan.  He especially enjoyed watching their children participate in their school activities, and he loved mowing his lawn.

 

      He is survived by his wife—Jovenia.

3 children—Wade Walton of Denver, CO,  Jarrett (Ami) Walton of Bemidji, MN & Wendy (Robert) Wahl of Strathcona, MN.

  

      4 grandchildren—Caitlin and Christian Wahl, Nic (Khelsee) Berry and Wyatt Walton.

 

      Sister—Shirley Wagner of Minneapolis.  Brother—Charles (Sharon) Walton of Middle River, 2 brothers-in-law—Alton Aamodt of Greenbush & Edward (Sheryl) Aamodt of Duluth.  Sister-in-law—Carol (Paul) Laugen of Chappell, Nebraska.

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

      He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter in infancy, 1 sister—Marlene Perusse and 1 brother—Earl Walton.

 

      Memorial Services were held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2 PM in Grace Evangelical Church in Strathcona with Pastor Robert Ludwig and Pastor Don Guttormson, officiating. Music was provided by Pastor Bob, Pastor Don, Caitlin Wahl, Meridith Walton & Brianna Helm.  Honorary Pallbearers were Harold Peterson, Miles Olson, Paul Laugen, Cleo Rud, Alton Aamodt & Brian Walton.  Military Honors were provided by the American Legion Post 444 of Middle River, MN.

 

      A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, March 18 at 7 PM in Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.

 

      Inurnment was in The Finnish Cemetery at Middle River, MN.
