Thilda Janousek

Thilda Janousek, 77, of Greenbush, MN, died Monday, April 3, 2017 in LifeCare Medical Center at Roseau, MN.

Thilda Josephine (Waage) Janousek, the daughter of Olaf and Louise Waage, was born July 18, 1939 in Huss Township, Roseau County, rural Greenbush, MN.
She grew up and attended school at Greenbush. Following school she worked at the Greenbush Creamery and several waitress jobs.

Thilda married Leonard Janousek on July 23, 1960 in Blessed Sacrament Church at Greenbush. They made their home in Greenbush where they opened a Ski-Doo dealership. Later they farmed north of Greenbush in the Haug Area and eventually moved out to the farm where she has lived since. She also worked at Grunig Farms for many years and for the Greenbush and Badger Post Offices.

She enjoyed gardening, baking and needlework. She raced snowmobiles when they owned the Ski-Doo business. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whom she so dearly loved. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

She is survived by:

3 daughters—Renae (Gale) Hanson of Strathcona, MN.

Beth (Brad) Solberg of Buffalo, MN and

Jessica Otto of Badger, MN.

2 sons—Gene (WyAnn) Janousek of Greenbush and

Josh (Heather) Janousek of Rosemount, MN.

10 Grandchildren—Justin (Nikki) Hanson, Jordan (Ashley) Hanson, Blake, Blair,

& Blaze Solberg, Gage & Layla Otto, Derek (Heather) Janousek, Brittany

(Ryan) Grussing, Jessamae Janousek and one baby boy on the way.

13 Great-grandchildren—Shundra, Daizy, Damion, Toby, Kayden, Kamrin,

Kristian, Kailey, Jaxon, Danyn, Daegan & Louise and Liv.

Sisters-in-law—Marlene (Adrian) Pulczinski and Ardith Waage

Brothers-in-law—Ernie (Karen) Janousek & Gerald Burkel, all of Greenbush.

Also several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband—Leonard on September 29, 2014, a granddaughter—Josie and her parents—Olaf & Louise Waage, Brothers—Danny & Vernon Waage and a sister—Clarice Burkel.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, April 7, in Oiland Lutheran Church of rural Greenbush with Pastor David Nelson, officiating. Musicians were Donna Graff, Delphin Wahl, LaRae Frislie and Arlene Jenson. Adrian Pulczinski and Jessica Otto were the Readers. The Pallbearers were Thilda’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Interment was in the Haug Cemetery, near Thilda’s home. Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
