Peter Duncan
Peter Duncan, 72, of Greenbush, MN, died on Friday August 15, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital at Rochester, MN.
Peter Carl Duncan, the son of Vernon & Adelheide (Rau) Duncan, was born December 15, 1941 in Bemidji, MN. He grew up in Cass Lake, MN and graduated from Cass Lake High School in 1960. He was a graduate of Bemidji State University. He taught school in various places before coming to Greenbush in 1968 where he taught school and coached for many years. He coached several sports including boys basketball, football, baseball, and girls basketball until 1990. He was also a baseball umpire. Pete retired from teaching in 1995. He then worked for Marvin Windows in Warroad for 5 years. He also worked at the Greenbush American Legion and Anton’s in Greenbush. He thoroughly enjoyed being a Statistician for Gator Sports for the past 12 years and was a true Gator Fan.
Pete was active in the community and church. He served on the Bethel Church Council and as its President for two terms. He was a Charter Member of the Greenbush-Badger Lions Club and served as President for three separate terms. He was involved in Teacher’s Associations and the Greenbush Men’s Golf League.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, Twins Baseball and watching all sports activities.
Pete was married to Sharon Syverson on June 26, 1971. He married Patricia Thompson on August 22, 1992. She died on January 23, 2001.
He is survived by 3 sons—Bill (Marlys) Duncan of Rochester, MN.
Jamie (Amber) Duncan of Kasson, MN & Adam (Aloni) Duncan of New Richland, MN and step-daughter—Sarah Thompson of South St. Paul, MN.
11 grandchildren—Aaron, Matthew, Grace, Jeremiah, Andrew, Giordana, Ethan, Trenton, Rozlyn, Isabelle and Odessa Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and wife Patty.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating. Marie Olson was the vocalist and Linda Sovde was the organist. Casket Bearers were Terry, Joel, Justin & Jon Howard, Greg & Cory Wollin. Honorary Pallbearers were All Gator Athletes, Past & Present.
Burial was in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery of Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of funeral arrangements.
