Peter Bates, 70, of Lake Bronson, MN, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, MN.

Peter Alfred Bates, the son of Leonard Harvey & Jean Elizabeth (Januscheitis) Bates was born July 1, 1945 at Fargo, ND. He grew up and attended school there. He lived in Montana for some time before he married Charlotte Hickok on May 28, 1971 at West Fargo. They lived in Fargo until 1990, then lived in various places throughout rural Minnesota until they settled in Lake Bronson in 2006.

Peter enjoyed fishing and hunting, working with horses and farm animals, working in the garage and drinking coffee. He really enjoyed working on cars, especially Fords.

Survived by: Wife—Charlotte of Lake Bronson.

4 children: son—Kelly (Crissy McDougall) Bates of Ulen, MN,

daughter—Brandie (Brian) Phiefer of Lake Bronson,

daughter—Lisa (Steven) Sampson of Moorhead, MN &

son—Peter Bates Jr. of Lake Bronson.

Grandchildren: Lucas Alexander, Emmajean Phiefer, Josephine Phiefer, Lita

Sampson, Logan Phiefer & Starlett Sampson, Ryan, Rose & Jesse

McDougall.

3 step-brothers—James, Edwin & Bernard Simonson, all of Fargo.

2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Long-time friend—Gary Nelson of Fargo.

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, March 21 in the Community Covenant Church at Lake Bronson, MN with Pastor Wesley Staie, officiating. The Pallbearers were Roy & John Mortenson, Todd Ehrenstrom, Clarence Stom, Don Cook & Rick Paulson. All of the family members were considered Honorary Pallbearers. Music was provided by Pastor Wes and Barb Staie.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Lake Bronson. Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush, MN.
