Norman Svegdahl

      Norman Svegdahl, 84, of Greenbush, died on Sunday afternoon, June 21, 2009 at the LifeCare-Greenbush Manor in Greenbush.

      Norman Oliver Svegdahl, the son of Ole & Norma (Thrane) Svegdahl, was born December 8, 1924 in Lind Township, Roseau County, rural Greenbush, MN.  He grew up and attended school there.  Norman married Anna Christine Berge on April 23, 1954 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  They farmed in Lind Township for many years.  Norman was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served as its custodian for several years.  He was a member of the Northwest Horse Racing Assn. and he raced horses at many area county fairs. He was also active with the Northland Threshing Bee of rural Strathcona. He enjoyed horses, farming, dancing, working hard and having fun. He especially enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends over coffee.

     SURVIVED  BY:       Wife—Christine Svegdahl.

1 Son—Noel and wife Marilee Svegdahl of Greenbush.

2 daughters—Noreen and husband Doug Lorenson of Strathcona and

                       Lisa and husband Denny Dvergsten of Greenbush.

7 grandchildren—Rory Hamness, Darrin, Alyssa, & Jessica Dvergsten,

                             Kjerstie Bertilrud, Madison & Peyton Svegdahl.

2 great-grandchildren—Breydon & Tessany Bertilrud.

            Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

       He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters—Alpha Dallager Evje and Nephie Aas.

       Funeral Services were held on Thursday, June 25 in United Free Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor LeRoy Petersen and Pastor Alvin Sather, officiating.  Special music was provided by Arlene Jenson, Delphin Wahl, Anna & Leslie Alme.  Eileen Kilen was at the organ.  Casket Bearers were James & Edward Dallager, Kenneth & Rodney Langaas, Merlyn Alme, Ernest Hemp, Jason & Brian Berge, Arvid Dversgsten, Arlan Dalager, Edsel & Orleen Anderson and Lynn Hagen.  Honorary Pallbearers were his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of his friends.  Interment was in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Lind Township, rural Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of arrangements.
