Merle Lerum, 60, of Burnsville, MN, formerly of
Greenbush died on Friday, December 19, 2008, at his home in Burnsville.
Merle
James Lerum, the son of James Clifford and Mayvis Joan (Anderson) Lerum, was
born July 11, 1948 at Roseau, MN. He
grew up at Greenbush. He was baptized on
September 14, 1948 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and confirmed on October 6,
1963 at Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush.
He graduated from Greenbush High School, Class of 1966. Merle served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to
1970. He served in Field Artillery, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His military
job was driving a 10 ton self-propelled cannon—a duty of a great deal of
responsibility and respect. He later was
employed as a security officer for the Pinkerton Security Co. He also worked at Polaris Industries in
Roseau, MN for many years. Merle was a member of the Moen-Zimek
Post 88, American Legion of Greenbush and a member of Bethel Lutheran Church of
Greenbush.

He was preceded in death by his parents,
and
3 brothers—Douglas, Mark and Craig Lerum.
A memorial service was held at Shepherd
of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake, MN on December 29. A local memorial service was held on
Saturday, January 3 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Bryce Fellbaum, officiating.

Vocal music was provided by JoAnne White & Arlene Jenson. Carolyn Eeg played the piano and organ.
Military Honors were provided by Moen-Zimek Post 88,
American Legion of Greenbush. Interment was
in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery of Greenbush with Gieseke
Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of arrangements.
