Leonard Janousek

Leonard Janousek, 77, of rural Greenbush, MN, died on Monday, September 29, 2014 in Essentia Health at Fargo, ND.

Leonard Steve Janousek, the son of Frank & Frances (Blazek) Janousek, was born August 3, 1937 at Greenbush, MN. He grew up and attended school at Haug-Leo and at the Agricultural School at Crookston, MN. He worked in Montana for farmers and later for Kiene Farms in Kittson County hauling potatoes. He then worked at Einar Johnson’s Standard Service Station in Greenbush doing mechanical work.

Leonard married Thilda Waage on July 23, 1960 in Blessed Sacrament Church at Greenbush. He worked for Waage Lumber and lived in Greenbush where he later opened his own repair shop and Ski-Doo dealership. He also raced snowmobiles for many years. Later he farmed north of Greenbush in the Haug Area and eventually moved out to the farm where they have lived since.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, vintage snowmobiles and tractors, and always “fixing” something. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Leonard was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife—Thilda.

3 daughters—Renae (Gale) Hanson of Strathcona, MN.

Beth (Brad) Solberg of Buffalo, MN and

Jessica (Tom) Otto of Badger, MN.

2 sons—Gene (WyAnn) Janousek of Greenbush and

Josh (Heather) Janousek of Rosemount, MN.

10 Grandchildren—Justin (Nikki) Hanson, Jordan (Ashley) Hanson, Blake, Blair,

& Blaze Solberg, Gage & Layla Otto, Derek (Heather) Janousek, Brittany

(Ryan) Grussing and Jessamae Janousek.

12 Great-grandchildren—Shundra, Daizy, Damion, Toby, Kayden, Kamrin,

Kristian, Kailey, Jaxon, Danyn, Daegan & Louise.

1 Sister—Marlene (Adrian) Pulczinski of Greenbush and

1 Brother—Ernie (Karen) Janousek of Greenbush.

Also several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter—Josie and his parents—Frank & Frances Janousek.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Greenbush with Father Luis Buitron, officiating. Music was provided by Michelle Peppel & Arlene Jenson. AJ Pulczinski was the reader. Ely & Ethan Noveck were the Altar Servers. Gift Bearers were Ernie & Karen Janousek. Eucharistic Ministers were Marlene & AJ Pulczinski. Casket Bearers were Gerald Graff, Dennis Wahl, Claire Kjersten, Alton Aamodt, Scott & Kevin Waage.

Burial was in The Haug Cemetery, Soler Township, Roseau County, rural Greenbush, MN. Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
