Kenny Johnson


     Kenny Johnson, 66, Greenbush, MN, went on to meet His Savior, Our Lord Jesus Christ on New Years Day, 2009 at his home in Greenbush.  
     Einar Kenneth “Kenny” Johnson, was born March 11, 1942 in Greenbush to parents Einar & Gerda (Gadeholt) Johnson.  He graduated from Greenbush High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army 1964-66.  He enjoyed playing baseball for many years, both before and after his time in the Army. Kenny married Mary Ann Adamski on Oct. 5, 1968 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenbush.  They celebrated 40 years of marriage in October.

     Kenny enjoyed the many people he met and the many friends he made over the years. He worked at the Standard Service Station in Greenbush.  He also operated a Gambles Store and later a True Value Hardware Store and a Standard Bulk delivery service.  Kenny also was a rural mail carrier for many years and operated a Christian book store and an Our Own Hardware Store.   He served as president, secretary & treasurer of the Minnesota Northwest Rural Letter Carrier Assn.  He was a member of the Greenbush American Legion and a Life Member of the Badger V.F.W.   He was a member of Grace Evangelical Church of Strathcona and served as a deacon.  He enjoyed teaching adult Sunday School about Jesus. In 1993 he was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia.  He fought a courageous battle for many years.  He enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling and visiting with family and friends, in person and on the phone. He especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren. Kenny will be greatly missed.  His faith in Jesus as his Lord & Savior was very important to him. 

He lives on in his Wife—Mary Ann Johnson of Greenbush.

6 Children—Tamara (Larry) Askeland of Grygla, MN;   Pam (Tim) Undeberg of Lake Bronson, MN;  Debbi Johnson of Greenbush;  Crystal Johnson of Fargo, ND;  Alicia (Chris) Anderson of Greenbush & Ken Johnson of Greenbush.  7 grandchildren—Michael, Malachi & Caleb Askeland of Grygla;  Levi, Alison & Zac Undeberg of Lake Bronson & Savannah Johnson of Greenbush.  His brother—Richard Johnson of New Brighton, MN & other relatives and friends.

       He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson—Hunter Stavenes, nephews—Jason Adamski, Stephen Nelson, Trinity Goulet and other relatives and friends.

      Funeral Services were held on Monday, January 5 in Grace Evangelical Church of  Strathcona with Pastor Bob Ludwig, officiating.  Pat Ludwig was the organist and vocal music was provided by the “Gentlemen of Grace Quartet”: Aaron Weil, Guy Strandberg, Merle & Vern Lorenson.  Casket Bearers were David Gustafson, Manvil Dvergsten, Jim Goslein, Len Friesen, Laddie Forst & Richard Otto.  Honorary Pallbearers were all of Kenny’s grandchildren and all those in attendance.  Interment with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Strathcona in the spring. Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
