Karen Timm

      Karen Timm, 75, of Karlstad, MN, formerly of Greenbush, MN, died early Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Karlstad Healthcare Center at Karlstad.

      Karen Timm was born Karen Virginia Ferguson, the daughter of Ward Winton & Beverly Claire (Racette) Ferguson on November 29, 1941 at Minneapolis, MN.  She grew up there and graduated from John Marshall High School in Minneapolis.  She married Richard Emil Timm on June 10, 1967 in the Twin Cities. They lived there until moving to Greenbush, MN in 1972.  She worked as a telephone operator, was employed in the Greenbush School Cafeteria in the 1970’s and worked at Marvin Windows in Warroad for over 20 years.

      She was certified in Foster Care and cared for many children and adults for many years. Karen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 88 of Greenbush.  She enjoyed trips to the casino and cabin, pool parties, playing Trivia Pursuit, action movies and she was a prolific reader.

      After retirement they moved to Java, South Dakota where she continued to do foster care, even after husband Dick’s death on April 20, 2007.  Later, she returned to Greenbush and then lived in Karlstad, MN at assisted living in 2015 and to the Karlstad Healthcare Center in 2016.

      She is survived by her daughter—Diane (Chad) Rud of Greenbush, foster daughters—Donna & Lynette Stillday of Badger, MN.  Grandchildren—Alicia Rud (Fiancé John Motzko), Whitlee & Hunter Rud.  Great-Grandchildren—Bennett & Paislee Motzko.  Brother—Ward Ferguson of Java, SD and sister—Janelle Buchman of Rapid River, Michigan.  Also several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother Lee Ferguson.

      Karen Timm died, with her daughter by her side, on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Karlstad Healthcare Center at Karlstad, MN, after a 6 year-long battle with ovarian cancer, at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 21 days.

      A Memorial Mass was held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Luis Buitron officiating. Pianist was Sara Carpenter and vocalists were Jody Kirkeide, Jeff Jenson, Whitlee Rud & Robert Hlucny. The Reader was Tony Gust.  Altar Servers were Kyle Stauffenecker, Andy Dostal & John Wilebski III. The Gift Bearers were Max Duray & KarLynn Erickson, who represented all of Karen’s 22 Godchildren. Eucharistic Ministers were Elinor Koshenina & Bob Hager.  The Honorary Group was the members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 88 of Greenbush.

      The arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
