Karen Jean (Hagen) Newcomb

 

http://mi-cache.legacy.com/legacy/images/Cobrands/StarTribune/Photos/12301237_11292009_1.jpg   Karen Jean (Hagen) Newcomb, 67, peacefully passed away in her daughter's arms at 3:00 a.m. on November 24, 2009 at her home in Shakopee, MN following a 10 month battle with cancer. A Memorial Service was held December 1, 2009 at 6:00 pm, Huber Funeral Home Chapel in Excelsior, Minnesota with Pastor Mike Golay, officiating.

      Karen was born January 29, 1942, in Greenbush, Minnesota to Fred and Esther Hagen and was the youngest of 12 children. Karen absolutely loved her family and friends and cherished every moment with them. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, movies, and playing cards. She was an active member at Friendship Church in Shakopee and enjoyed volunteering her time to help cook after services on Sunday. She was also a very proud and active member of AA for 16 years and of the Lady's Auxiliary. Karen was survived by her son, Mickey Newcomb, her daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Jeff Powers, and four granddaughters, Amber, Alexie, AvaMarie and Kendyl-Perri, a brother, Randy Hagen & 3 sisters, Helen Conway, Doris Ctutchfield & Marion Snare.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Newcomb and son, Perri Newcomb, 5 brothers, Dale, Hugo, Wallace, Leif & Gerald Hagen & 2 sisters, Dee Newman & Lorraine “Larry” Medford.

      Graveside Services were held on August 7, 2010 in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery of rural Greenbush, MN with Pastor LeRoy Petersen, officiating. Local assistance to the family was provided by the Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
