Joyce Ryden
Joyce Ryden, 83, of Strathcona, MN, died
on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in Altru Rehab Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Joyce Ryden, was
born Joyce Joan Hoosier on March 18, 1933 at Badger, MN, to parents Ed &
Alice (Tepley) Hoosier. She grew up and attended school at
Badger. She was baptized and confirmed
at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Badger, where she sang in the choir. Joyce
was united in marriage to Robert Ryden on October 24, 1951 in Badger. They made their home near Donaldson, MN until
1968 when they moved to a farm in Huntly Township
near Strathcona, MN. Joyce taught Sunday
School and also served on the Huntly
Township Board.
Her hobbies included crocheting, fishing,
camping, woodworking, bird watching, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by: 6 children—Dale Ryden of Strathcona, MN, Mark (Shirley) Ryden of Strathcona, Warren Ryden of Middle River, MN, Barbara (Lyle) Braff
of Strandquist, MN., Charles Ryden of
Middle River, & Julie (Verlyn) Kaml of Greenbush, MN.
8 grandchildren—Matt Ryden, Sara (Matt) Olson, Jessica (Brandon) Clark, Jeromy (Melissa) Braff, Felicia
(Phil) Novak, Robin Tvedt, Tonya (Gary) Edwards Jr. & Bradley Kaml.
13 great-grandchildren—Alexia,
Taylor, Katie, Gage, Karys, Kenley,
Avalene, Violet, Aubrey, Austin, Sophia, Keeli & Olivia.
A brother—Vernon
Hoosier of Danville, VA, nieces, nephews and other family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband
Robert Ryden on June 27, 2013, great-granddaughter—Joscelyn
Edwards and great-grandson—Aidan Edwards, brothers—Howard, Arnold & Donald
Hoosier, sisters—LaVerne Hoosier,
Evelyn Enyart & Vivian Kopecky.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday,
August 16, 2016 at 10 AM in Grace Evangelical Church of Strathcona, MN, with
Pastor Robert Ludwig, officiating. Musicians were Corienne
Jacobson, Nick Lorenson & Arlene Jenson.
The Pallbearers were her 8 grandchildren and the Honorary Pallbearers
were her 13 great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery at
Donaldson, MN.
There was a prayer service held on Monday
evening at 7 PM, led by Pastor Mark Mathews in Gieseke Funeral Chapel of
Greenbush, MN.
