Irene Hoverson

 

      Irene Hoverson, 87, of Greenbush, MN, formerly of Strathcona, MN, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN.

 

      Irene Hoverson was born September 18, 1925, to parents Joseph & Mary (Vasicek) Trenda, at Lankin, North Dakota and grew up in North Dakota.  She married Melvin Loken on June 6, 1946 at Fordville, ND.  Melvin died on October 21, 1957.  She married Victor Hoverson on December 19, 1965 at Larimore, ND.  They farmed for many years at Strathcona, MN.  Victor died on September 8, 2011. Irene lived in Elderbush Manor at Greenbush, MN for the past few years and has been a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush for many years.

 

      She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching and making quilts.  She was known for her delicious donuts and her popular Rice Krispy Bars, which were present at every family party.  She worked hard at baking, cooking, feeding and caring for the farm workers over the years.

 

      Irene loved her church and truly loved her family and grandchildren.  She enjoyed living at Elderbush and the many people and friends she met there.

 

     She is survived by:

Children—Dean (Bernice) Loken of Seattle, Washington,

    Dana (Jana) Loken of Ottertail, MN,

    Connie (John) Stanislawski of Greenbush, MN.

    Mary Ann Hoverson Swanson of Bethel, MN,

    Thomas (Vicki) Hoverson of Strathcona, MN,

    Douglas Hoverson of Strathcona, MN,

        11 grandchildren & 22 great-grandchildren.

        & 1 great-great-grandson.

1 Sisters—June Ledbury of Minot, ND. 

 

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands—Melvin Loken & Victor Hoverson and her sisters—Delores Scott & Grace Coss.

 

      Irene Hoverson died on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN at the age of 87 years, 6 month and 28 days.

 

      Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating.  The readers were Tim Stanislawski & Deann Fenster. Special music was provided by Nikki Wojchowski, Delphin Wahl, Layton Wahl & LaRae Frislie.   Linda Sovde was at the organ.  Casket Bearers were Irene’s eleven Grandchildren,  Jeremy & Taryn Hoverson, Timothy & John M. Stanisawski, Valarie (Stanislawski) Holzer, Jon Behrens, Deann (Loken) Fenster, Janine (Loken) Hofman, Jay, Darik & Paul Loken. The Honorary Pallbearers were Irene’s Great-Grandchildren & her special lady friends.

 

     Burial was later the same day in the Quale Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Fordville, North Dakota with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating.

 

     Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush was in charge of arrangements.
