Inocencia “Sing Sing” Pederson

 

      Inocencia J. Pederson, 63, of Greenbush, MN, died Friday, October 18, 2013 in Sanford Medical Center at Thief River Falls, MN.

 

      Sing Sing Pederson was born Inocencia J. Chiu on December 28, 1949 at Cebu, Philippines, one of four daughters of Martin & Teofista Chiu. Their names were Verencia, Gloria, Inocencia and Aquilina.   Her birth date, December 28th is Holy Innocents’ Day, therefore she was named Inocencia, but she was commonly known as Sing Sing, a nickname her father Martin gave to her years ago.

 

      She married Carlyle Pederson on September 8, 1979 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Greenbush, MN.  They have one son—Martin.

 

      Sing Sing was active in the Greenbush Boy Scouts and activities in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the local Lutheran Churches.  She crocheted table cloths which were sold at auctions for the Ladies Guild and the Ladies Aid in these churches.  She cared for elderly persons and did Daycare for young children in her home.

 

      Sing Sing became a U.S. Citizen on April 10, 2003, something she was very very proud of.  She enjoyed going for walks, crocheting and tending her beautiful flower gardens.

 

      She is survived by her husband—Carlyle.  Son—Martin Pederson of Greenbush,  2 sisters in the Philippines and 2 sisters-in-law & 3 brothers-in-law in the U.S., also several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

      She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest sister Aquilina.

 

      Funeral Services were held on Friday, October 25, 2013  in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Greenbush with Father Bill DeCrans, officiating. Music was provided by Michelle Peppel and Jody Kirkeide.  A Special Filipino musical selection and reading was done by a group of many of Sing Sing’s friends. The reader was Joy Sand, Ely & Ethan Novacek were the Altar Servers.  Eucharistic Ministers were Annette Graff and Elinor Koshenina.  Casket Bearers were Keaton Kjos, Jordan Duray, Allen Graff, Austen Emery, Josh Korbl, Eli & Tyler Jenson.  Interment was in Pauli Cemetery, rural Greenbush.  Funeral Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.

 

      Sing Sing will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew her.
