Hilda Blazek

Hilda Blazek, 91, of Greenbush, MN, died on Saturday morning, August 20, 2011 at her home in LifeCare Assisted Living at Greenbush.

Hilda Blazek, was born Hilda Ardelle Thompson, the daughter of Charles & Carrie (Graff) Thompson, on August 17, 1920 in Soler Township, Roseau County, north of Greenbush, MN. She grew up and attended school there.

She married Jerrie E. Blazek on November 25, 1937 in Blessed Sacrament Church of Greenbush by Father William Lemen. They farmed at rural Greenbush for many years. She also worked at the Greenbush Hospital & Nursing Home, the Turkey Plant in Greenbush, Dann’s Café & the V.F.W. in Badger, MN and she did adult foster care.

Hilda loved baking and was well known for her delicious lefse, buns & donuts. She also liked to play cards, garden, canning, attend rummage sales & thrift stores & polka dances. She especially enjoyed playing games and spending time with her family. She had a loving spirit with open arms & she led a humor filled life.

1 sister-in-law—Helen Thompson of Roseau.

She was preceded in death by her husband —Jerrie Blazek on March 14, 1992.

1 son—Charles, 1 son-in-law—Eldon Harbott & 1 grandson—Travis Berger.

3 Brothers—Delford, Cambell and Belmer Thompson &

5 Sisters—Alpha Jenson, Thelma Jenson, Belle Holm, Lizzie Kjersten & Jennie Wickstrom.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, August 25, at in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Greenbush with Father Luis Buitron, officiating.

Wednesday afternoon, The Rosary was led by Sarah Kuznia & Michael Blazek in Blessed Sacrament Church, followed by a Vigil Prayer Service, led by Father Lu.

Musicians were Jeanne Novacek, Arlene Jenson, Anna Skjerven & Cathy Erickson Music Ministries. Readers were Michael & Robert Blazek. Katrina & Zachary Nordine were the Altar Servers. Casket Bearers were Craig Harbott, Allan Seydel, Kevin Kuznia, Adam Stusynski, Donavan, Mark & Jason Blazek. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Hilda’s grandchildren. Interment was in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of arrangements.
