Greg Hamness, 56, of Strathcona, MN, died on Thursday, September 20, 2012 in Rochester Methodist Hospital at Rochester, MN.
Gregery Arnold Hamness, the son of Arnold and Eunice (Johnson) Hamness was born December 5, 1955 in Greenbush, MN. He graduated from Greenbush High School, Class of 1973. He was married to Laurie Schmitz on August 15, 1981 in St. Joseph’s Church at Red Lake Falls, MN.
For the past fifteen years, Greg was happily employed at Polaris Industries as a Senior Development Technician, and in spite of his illness, he constantly looked forward to returning to work. Prior to that, he worked as a postal carrier in Middle River and as a fabricator at Pro-5 in Roseau. Since he graduated from high school, Greg had continued to operate the family farm near Strathcona.
Greg enjoyed snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, tinkering in his shop, and building things.
Greg is survived by his wife — Laurie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service were held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann and many of the Diocese Priests and Deacons officiating. Musicians were Jeanne Novacek, Meredith Walton & Bonnie Lee. Casket Bearers were Wayne Hanson, Doug Lorenson, Danny Trontvet, David Foss, Teddy Westlund, Randy Huot, Mark Stephens & Denny Dvergsten. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at Strathcona, MN with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush, MN in charge of arrangements.
