Fern L. Nelson, 84, of Badger, MN,
died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in LifeCare Greenbush
Manor at Greenbush, MN.
Fern Nelson was born Fern Lucille Wahl,
the daughter of Arnold & Gwendolyn (Skerritt)
Wahl, on January 15, 1927 at Scobey, Montana. She grew up at Scobey & in
Minnesota. She married Carl Miller on
February 15, 1947 at Scobey. They lived
at Scobey where Fern worked at the local Rexall Drug
Store. In 1985 she moved to Minnesota to
be closer to her mother and on June 18, 1988, she married Melford
E. Nelson. They lived on the Nelson farm
in Moose Township, north of Badger, MN for many years until she entered the LifeCare Greenbush Manor at Greenbush, MN.
Fern’s hobbies included painting,
embroidery, watching TV, cooking and reading books. She especially enjoyed baking.
She is survived by her husband—Melford Nelson, her three children--Norrene
Dighans of Scobey, Montana, Darrell, and wife Marychris
Miller of Scobey, Montana & Julie Dunlap of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by several grandchildren
and several great-grandchildren.
2 sisters—Nora, and husband Chrest Hamness of Strathcona, MN and Sonja, and husband Raymond Hanson of Strathcona, MN. Brother-in-law—Charles Newquist of
Lewisville, Texas & former sister-in-law—Phyllis Wahl of Greenbush, MN. Also many nieces, nephews
and other relatives & friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
Sister—Juanita Newquist, Brothers—Oswald “Buzz” Wahl
and Arnold “Bobby” Wahl Jr.
Funeral Service were held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 in Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush with Pastor Erling Huglen, officiating. Music was provided by Arlene Jenson. Casket Bearers were Chris & Dale Hamness, Wayne & Ken Hanson, Robert & Earl Wahl. Interment was in Badger City Cemetery at Badger, MN. Funeral arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
