Lieberg
Elaine Lieberg,
81, of Greenbush, MN, died on Thursday, July 16, 2009 in LifeCare
Medical Center at Roseau.
Elaine
Lieberg, was born Eunice Elaine Williamson, the
daughter of Gust and Andrea (Ness) Williamson, on March 23, 1928 in
Greenbush. She was baptized and confirmed in Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush and
graduated from Greenbush High School in 1946.
She attended Augsburg College for a time before returning to Greenbush
where she worked in the family business, Williamson’s Grocery. After her father
died she continued the business as Elaine’s Grocery until 1967.
She married Axel Edward Lieberg
on May 29, 1964 at Bethania Lutheran Church in
Greenbush. Axel was an electrician and Elaine kept books for their business, Lieberg Electric.
Axel died on October 22, 1998.
Elaine was an active member of Bethel
Lutheran Church and served many positions such as Sunday School
Secretary/Treasurer and Ladies groups.
She performed many behind the scenes jobs at church. She assisted in counting the weekly offerings
for over 30 years, she kept the kitchen in supplies
for many years. She also helped with any other office duty that was
needed. Elaine enjoyed outdoor
activities, yard work and shoveling snow.
She was very proud of her hometown and was an avid Greenbush
promoter. She especially enjoyed
spending time with her grandchildren and was so grateful that they all live so
close to her. Elaine became a resident
of LifeCare-Greenbush Manor on December 1, 2008 and has
enjoyed the months she spent there.

BY: Daughter—Kristi and husband Jeff Howell of
Badger.
Son—Martin, and wife
Susan Lieberg of Greenbush.
Grandchildren: Katelyn, Matthew & Erika Howell and Benjamin & Kjerstie
Lieberg, and
other relatives and friends.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Gloria in infancy.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, July
20 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Nancy Jewell,
officiating. Music was by Joan Haugen,
organist and Marie Olson, vocalist.
Casket Bearers were Jim & Dexter Dvergsten,
Merlyn, Josh, Joe & Jacob Wiskow and Brad Penas. Interment was
in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery of Greenbush with Gieseke
Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of arrangements.
