      Edsel Anderson, 78, of Greenbush, MN, died on Friday, July 26, 2013 in Altru Hospital at Grand Forks, ND.

 

      Edsel A. Anderson, the son of Edwin O. & Adelia (Hermanson) Anderson, was born June 4, 1935 on the home farm in Deer Township, Roseau County, rural Greenbush, MN.   He grew up there and graduated from Greenbush High School, Class of 1954.  He farmed on the home farm and also served in the North Dakota Air National Guard for many years.

 

      Edsel married Donna Bergeson Faken on November 30, 1963.  They farmed with son David until his death on January 28, 2004.  They sold the farm and moved into Greenbush in 2009.

 

      Edsel had served on the Church Councils at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and at United Free Lutheran Church.  He also served on the Deer Township Board for over 40 years.  He was a member of the Moen-Zimek Post 88, American Legion of Greenbush. 

 

       Edsel enjoyed working with wood and creating projects, some of which were given away as gifts.  Edsel especially loved music.  He grew up in a family of musicians and played the accordion and several other musical instruments.

 

      He is survived by his wife of 50 years—Donna.

 

2 daughters—Marilynn (Dean) Wolff of Thief River Falls, MN and

                       Lynell (Charles) Strand of Greenbush, MN.

 

5 grandchildren—Dacian (Christine) Wolff of  Red Lake Falls, MN,

      Duke (Sally) Wolff of Thief River Falls, MN,

      Duane Wolff of Farmington, MN,

      Shania Strand of Greenbush, MN, and

      Sawyer Strand of Greenbush, MN.

2 great-granddaughters—Zayna & Svea Wolff.

 

      He was preceded in death by son—David, his parents and his brother—Ronald.

 

      Funeral Services were held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM in Untied Free Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor LeRoy Petersen, officiating. Music was provided by Pianist—Annette Kyllo & Violinist—Elika Korhonen, members of  the AFLBS Timothy Team.  Vocalists—Arlene Jenson, Joanne Gunderson, The Doug Green Family and The Charles Strand Family.

 

      Casket Bearers were Duane, Duke & Dacian Wolff, Mardy Anderson, Noel Svegdahl, Robby Christianson, Glenn Iverson & Ron Jacobson.  Honorary Pallbearers were Shania & Sawyer Strand, Zayna & Svea Wolff, Arvid Dvergsten, Orleen Anderson, Gerald Dvergsten, Ray Christianson and all of Edsel’s family & friends.

 

      A prayer service was held on Friday evening at United Free Lutheran Church, lead by Pastor LeRoy Petersen.  Music was provided by Matt Green, vocalist and accordion and Natalie Korczak, pianist.

 

      Interment was in Pauli Lutheran Cemetery, west of Greenbush, with Military Honors provided by Moen-Zimek Post 88, American Legion of Greenbush.

      Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
