Dorothy Brazier, 92, of Greenbush, died Tuesday morning, May 26, 2015 in LifeCare Greenbush Manor at Greenbush, MN.
Dorothy Brazier was born Dorothy Julia Dostal, the daughter of Albin and Julia (Lubinski) Dostal, on September 29, 1922 on her family’s farm at rural Badger, MN. She graduated from Badger High School and attended Teacher’s Training at Mankato State College. She taught country school in Roseau County and later was a teacher’s aide in the Greenbush School.
Dorothy married Walter Brazier on June 22, 1943 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Badger, MN. They farmed and raised their family at rural Greenbush, MN. Walter died on August 24, 1990. She continued to live on the farm and moved into Greenbush in 1996.
She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, cooking, baking and gardening. She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church, a member of St. Anne’s Sodality and a Cursillo Member. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Lay Carmelite Order in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Dorothy is survived by her children—David (Gail) Brazier of Nashwauk, MN; Delores (John) Olson of Thief River Falls, MN; Glen (RoxAnne) Brazier of Greenbush; Vivian (LeRoy) Omdahl of Greenbush; Thomas (Roxane) Brazier of League City, Texas & Dennis (Terri) Brazier of Greenbush.
Grandchildren: Scott & Stacy Brazier; John Jr. & Jim Olson; Janet Pierce & Matt Brazier; Melissa Brazier, Jessica Aasand & Trista Gooderham; Tyler, Bailey, Elliot & Olivia Brazier, and 14 great-grandchildren.
2 sisters—Laura Johnson of Park Rapids, MN and Sylvia Kukowski of Roseau, MN.
Dorothy was welcomed into her heavenly home by her parents, her husband Walter, brothers—Norbert and Ted Dostal and a sister Marie Sikorski.
Dorothy will be remembered for her love and compassion for others. Her faith was a very important aspect of her life. She dedicated several hours faithfully each day to intercede in prayer for others. She devoutly read her bible and significantly impacted many lives in her 92 years, 8 months and 4 days.
Dorothy had a special gift for making “everyone in the room feel as though they were the most important.” People who knew her felt a “presence” within her. Without a doubt, it was the Holy Spirit.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Greenbush with Father Luis Buitron, officiating. Music was provided by Jeanne Novacek, Darcy Hasson and Bailey Brazier. Readers were Trista Gooderham & Terri Brazier. Altar Servers were Evan & Coryn Peppel & Francis Cudnik. Gift Bearers were Dorothy’s granddaughters; Jessica Aasand, Trista Gooderham, Janet Pierce, Melissa & Olivia Brazier. Eucharistic Ministers were Inez Hager, Colette Mooney & Jan Burkel. Casket Bearers were her grandsons; Scott, Matt, Tyler & Elliot Brazier, Kaleb Klos & Paxton Pierce. Ushers were Bob Hager & Ron Mooney.
Burial was in Blessed Sacrament Cemetery of Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of funeral arrangements.
