Dolores Kelstrup
Dolores Kelstrup, 87, of Roseau, MN, died Sunday, November 20, 2016 in LifeCare Roseau Manor.
Delores Jacqueline Kelstrup was born on November 30, 1928 at Bellingham, WA to Clarence Edward “Rusty” Martinsen and Alice Eleanor (Anderson) Martinsen.
Dolores grew up in the border towns of Northport, Port Angeles, Point Roberts & Blaine, WA, as her father worked as a Custom’s Patrol & Custom’s Officer; today’s U.S. Customs & Border Protection.
She graduated in 1946 at Blaine High School, Blaine, WA, and then went to work at the Farmer’s Mutual Telephone Co. in Whatcom County as a telephone operator for 6 years. While at the phone company, Dolores met Reidar Edwin Kelstrup of Ferndale, WA, who was working installing telephone and lines in the Whatcom Co. Area. They were married September 14, 1951 in Bellingham, WA and lived in Ferndale, WA, raising 9 children and operating a dairy farm. Since Reidar was a Montanan from the Wolf Point area, in 1969 the family moved to a ranch 20 miles south of Livingston, MT near Pray, MT in Paradise Valley. Two more sons were born at Livingston before the family moved to Three Forks, MT in 1976. They farmed and ranched near Logan, MT & the Horseshoe Hills area by Clarkston, MT, along the Headwaters of the Missouri River. The Hidden Valley area of the ranch was a stopping point for the Lewis & Clark Expedition in 1805, a unique draw along the Missouri River on the ranch.
After Reidar died in 1993, Dolores moved to Roseau, MN in 1995 and lived at the North Star Apts. For 20 years. Ten of those years she worked at the Four Season Sr. Center for the Lutheran Social Services, Meals-on-Wheels Program.
January 2016 Dolores chose to move into LifeCare Roseau Manor where she was wonderfully cared for by the nurses, assistances, kitchen crew & staff at LCRM, Roseau, MN.
