Christine Gieseke

 

      Christine Gieseke, 35, of Moorhead, MN died on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at her home.

 

      Christine Marie Gieseke, the daughter of Ernest John and Linda Glee (Dahle) Gieseke, was born on June 11, 1977 in Detroit Lakes, MN.  She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes and attended Lincoln Elementary School.

 

      She moved to Greenbush, MN, on October 31, 1984.  She was confirmed and a member of Bethel Lutheran.  Christine was active in drama, band and cheerleading. She graduated from Greenbush High School, Class of 1995.  She attended Bemidji State University, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with an emphasis in Creative Writing.  She also attended a semester abroad at Oxford University in England.  While there, she toured Europe. Upon returning to the States, she climbed the Grand Canyon with college friends.

 

       After graduation, she moved to Hibbing, MN, where she worked for Northwest Airlines Reservations Center at Chisholm.  She returned to Bemidji State, earning her second Bachelor’s Degree in English Education. She did her practice teaching at Roseau Junior High in Roseau, MN and taught at Westonka Junior High in Mound, MN, living in Spring Lake Park.  She also taught at Excel Academy in Minnetonka. She then taught English to 17-21 year olds at the Center for Training and Careers on Lake Street and later downtown Minneapolis, moving to St. Louis Park. She lived at St. Cloud, MN for a short time then in 2008, Christine moved to Moorhead, MN, where she worked at several businesses in the Fargo /Moorhead area, most recently, Nordic Needle and Scherling Photography. Christine founded Riverblue Publications while attending college.  She built websites and had an eBay store through her websites.

 

      Christine loved authors, writing, reading, movies, movie trivia, photography, music, nature, languages, and all things Norwegian.  She loved taking long walks and spending time with her cats LongCat and Pete.  She put others before herself, caring for people from all walks of life.  She especially loved spending time with children.

 

      Christine is survived by: her Parents, Ernie and Linda Gieseke, Greenbush;

1 Brother, Andrew Gieseke and wife Jessica, Bloomington, MN;

1 Nephew, Levi Gieseke;

Grandmother, Helen Dahle, of Milbank, SD;

Godmother, Rita Wellnitz, of Milbank, SD;

Her closest friend, Felicia Dally, of Thief River Falls, MN.

 

      Uncles and Aunts: Allen (Pat) Dahle, Watertown, SD; Collis (Brenda) Dahle, Rita (Dave) Wellnitz, Karen (Lloyd) Tillma, all of Milbank, SD; Julie (Randy) Kruse, Revillo, SD; Nancy (Jim) Weber, Fargo, ND; Betty (George) McGuire, Sierra Vista, AZ; and many cousins and other relatives and friends.

 

     She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Herb & May Gieseke and Roscoe Dahle; and her Godparents, David and Coleen Eidem.

 

      Funeral Services were held on Friday, October 5, 2012 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating. Linda Sovde was the organist. Casket Bearers were Christine’s Family and Honorary Pallbearers were her friends.

 

      Interment was in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery at Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of funeral arrangements.
