Aloyce Wiskow, (Mrs. Curtis Wiskow), 76, of rural Strathcona, MN, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in LifeCare-Greenbush Manor at Greenbush, MN.
Aloyce Wiskow was born Aloyce Colleen
Iverson, the daughter of Melvin & Thea (Olson) Iverson on November 17, 1933
at Peposki, MN. She was baptized at the
Osterdahlen Lutheran Church at Pinewood, MN.
She moved to Gatzke, MN with her family at age 3 and attended the
Cloverland School near Gatzke. She was
confirmed at the United Lutheran Church at Gatzke. She graduated from Middle River, MN High
School in 1952.
Aloyce married Curtis Wiskow on June 28,
1954 at Landstad Lutheran Church at Gatzke.
They farmed in Huss Township, Roseau County, rural Strathcona, MN for
many years.
Aloyce was a self-taught musician and played
the piano, organ and guitar and could sing in Norwegian. She served as church organist/pianist at the
Klondike Lutheran Church and the Poplar Grove Lutheran Church for many
years. She also taught Sunday School at
both churches. She served as the
Treasurer of the Klondike Cemetery for over 30 years. She was a Charter Member of the Northland
Threshing Bee and served as their Treasurer for many years.
Aloyce enjoyed growing flowers and caring
for animals of all kinds. She was
dedicated to Curtis and sent him over 700 letters while he was away serving in
the U.S. Army.
SURVIVED BY: Husband—Curtis.
1 brother—James Iverson of Madison, SD, a
sister-in-law—Betty Iverson of Thornton, Colorado, many nieces, nephews and
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
1 brother--Maynerd Iverson, a sister-in-law—Maxine Iverson and nieces and
nephews, Rosalyn Iverson Engler, Merle, Todd, Katherine & Stephen Iverson.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, May 24 in the United Free Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor LeRoy Petersen, officiating. Organist was Eileen Kilen and Vocalists were Merle & Karen Lorenson. Sharing memories and the reading of the obituary were done by Val Bernat & Jeff Iverson. Pallbearers were Kerby & Grant Eidsmoe, John, Earl & Roger Wiskow & Russ Iverson. Interment was in Klondike Cemetery at rural Strathcona with Lucinda Wiskow singing the National Anthem. Arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
